Directions To Store Locations
To show customers directions from their location or their search address to any of the store locations we can utilize the Google Maps ability to provide your visitor with direction instructions.
To build direction guidelines for the customer, we need a starting point, the route from place. So this feature turns on only after a customer searches for some address. When we get this search address, we use it as the route from place and we can start building direction instructions from this point to our store locations on the map.
Try entering an address like F Road Wilmington Delaware in the search field of the store locator. The store locator will find this place on the map, then it will display the nearby stores. As we know the source address - F Road Wilmington Delaware - we can build direction instructions from this source to each destination options, i.e. our stores in the location management system.
As you see, each matching result in the store locator now displays the Directions link.
If you are not interested in this feature, you can simply turn it off in the Locatoraid settings:
- Configuration > Locations Details
You can also configure the text or the design options of this Directions link in the list and the map results view templates:
- Configuration > Details On Map
- Configuration > Details In List
Please also note that usage of the Directions API may incur additional expenses from Google Maps Platform.
